His real name Oscar Bonginkosi Mdlongwa. He was born on November 23, 1967. Oskido is the son of a Zimbabwean politician and a South African woman known as Emily, who was born in Oukasie County, near the Brits. His father is Esaph Mdlongwa, who was a former member of the Welsh MDC led by Ncube.
He spent his childhood in an exceedingly city referred to as Luveve, that is in Zimbabwe's second largest town, Bulawayo, wherever his father was from. He went to Gifford Elementary School in Bulawayo. He returned to South Africa in 1987n working in the family shop and then pursued music full-time.

In 2015, the Kwaito artist split from his wife, Kibi, with whom he spent many years. He announced that he found love again and married Mathapelo. He and Kibi as a couple have two children and now a child with his new love Mathapelo.
Oskido has three children, Mandy, Naledi, from his previous marriage and a son named Bass, from his current wife.
Career
He teamed up with producers Don Laka and Christos Katsaitis, and together they founded Kalawa Records and released their BOP (Brothers Of Peace) compilation in 1993. The label later morphed into Kalawa Jazmee in 1995.

Since then, Oskido has produced for numerous artists such as Bongo Maffin, Boom Shaka and Mafikizolo. He has also worked with DJ Zinhle and has a high regard for DJ Zinhle's talent. Recently, DJ Zinhle praised DJ Oskido for being such a good mentor to him.
Between 2000 and 2010, he released so many albums that together they were made into a compilation called Church Grooves. In the summer of 2019, he released a new album titled Akhiwe which soon became a hit. He collaborated with several artists on the album such as Winnie Khumalo, Monique and Tamara Dey.
